Six Healthy Christmas Gifts for a fit fabulous 2015

The Australian Christmas tree is blooming, stores are erecting sparkly trees, Carols by Candlelight signs have appeared and the salespeople at Myer look frantic.

This can only mean one thing.

Christmas is nearly here.

Here are six of my best gift suggestions for the health conscious or trying to be health conscious.

1. The core, knee or 3/4 length legging from Michelle Bridges One Active range.nov 2014 blog n xmas 053

Durable, comfortable and stylish, these leggings offer fantastic value at just $25. Mine are 18 months old and still look new.

2. Sport shoes. Good ones that cost around $120 upwards. Seriously. Go ahead and pull on your daggy, stretched, stained sports shirt from your school days, wear your husbands footy shorts, but Do Not exercise in rubbish shoes! I beg you. You’ll injure those faithful lumps of meat you walk on, stuff your hips knees and spine, and make yourself grumpy. Its the only thing you cant skimp on.

I wear Brooks and only Brooks(Adrenaline and Diad). Hubby wears Asics.

For the guys:

3. A fitbit which, if you shop around, should cost around $120 – $130. Like my man, many guys love the tech side of exercise.

4. A punching bag and gloves.

nov 2014 blog n xmas 096$20 – $30 for the gloves, depending where you source them and $80 upwards for the punching bag. Macho and it works.

5. Jamie Oliver Recipe books or serving items.

At $20 – $30 each these gifts are stylish, quality and make creating in the kitchen enjoyable. My tastebuds died and went to heaven the first time I tried a Jamie recipe. I’m a fan.

And, drum roll, number six, the Mothership of great gifts, the biggest best, tastiest and most joy invoking hamper of all…

6. The Salad Bowl Hamper!

nov 2014 blog n xmas 109This beauty starts with a Melamine salad bowl and servers, then has such delicacies as Pana chocolate, Kettle chips, condiments like seeded mustard and Kalamata olives, crackers, gluten free shortbread and mini pudding(Truly! $3 for this tiny boxed joy from Woolies), Coconut or mineral water, unshelled nuts and nut cracker, Coffee beans, Lindt 90% dark chocolate, House & Home or Jamie Oliver apron/tea towels/tablecloth,  Rooibos flavoured teas, and Emma and Tom’s snack bars. You can spend $30 or up to, and over, $100. Its up to you. Personalize it and be brave. If intended for a guy, add protein powder, an iTunes card, coffee and condiments, water bottle or travel mug. And if you’re a whizz at jam or chutney or fruit cake, bake your heart out, wrap with cello and tie with shiny ribbon. Scan your usual grocery and variety stores like Big W, and your health food shop.

Wrap a big piece of cellophane around, tie with something shiny and smile. They’re going to love it!
